WHY KNOT?
A KNOT TYING WORKSHOP

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 8TH, 2024
OWENWOOD FARM AND NEIGHBOR SPACE

1451 JOHN WEST ROAD DALLAS, TX
6:00PM - 7:30PM

Knot tying is a practical and artful skill that can provide additional strength and support to whatever is being secured. Some knots can be easily adjusted to different sizes, useful for things like attaching equipment, securing tarps, or creating temporary tethers. Join us on January 8th as Glen McGee leads a workshop on the art of knot tying. This will be a basic knot tying class where Glen will teach four specific knot types, their purpose, and educate you on how knots can save time, frustration and money in the garden and around your home!

The class will be in the gym at Owenwood Neighbor Space, 1451 John West Rd, Dallas. A water fountain and water bottle fill station are available. Park behind the building. You will see a single metal door on the northwest corner of the building. The door will be open. Enter through that door.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Glen loves learning and sharing gardening techniques. He believes gardening is beneficial for  healthy food, good mental therapy, and the opportunity to share food and fellowship with friends.

Glen grew up in Southwestern Oklahoma helping his grandparents with their truck garden and his parents with their garden/farming operation. After a 30-year detour into computer programming in the banking and manufacturing industry, Glen returned his attention to vegetable gardening. He has several raised vegetable beds at his home and in the Project Eden community garden. Within the Dallas County Master Gardener Association (DCMGA) Glen serves primarily at the Urban Farm in Garland assisting with orchard, vineyard and vegetable production as well as assisting with wine making classes and making/selling jelly with DCMGA and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension teams.   Glen also serves as the president of the DCMGA 2025-2026.
