FIX YOUR WATER CLASS SERIES:
TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE NW CAMPUS
Tarrant County growers, are you ready to master irrigation to conserve water and boost your harvests? This class series will make watering and irrigation fundamentals fun and easy for urban farmers. Learn the skills needed to design and install a watering system for your growing space along with how to make minor repairs for peak system performance. All sessions will be at TCC Northwest Campus from 6:00-8:00 PM.
There are 12 scholarships available for this workshop and an application must be submitted. Ideal candidates are urban and small farmers growing in Tarrant County. You will be notified via email if your application is accepted.

There will be limited open enrollment available through TCC for a fee of $30 per class.
Go to the TCC Personal Enrichment website and click on the box labeled "Browse classes in MyTCCTrack's Instant Enrollment". Enter the class code listed at the end of the description below into the "Course Code Number" box and click "Search." Click the "Select" button on the right side. The class will be added to your cart. You will then register and pay for the class.
Or, to pull up all the courses at once, go to "Location" and select "Northwest Campus" from the drop down menu and click "Search"
On the next screen, on the left side, are "Filter Results". Scroll down and find "Instructors." Select "Cole, D" under Instructors. The next page brings up all 4 classes. Click the "Select" button on the right of each class you want to take. The class(es) will be added to your cart. You will then register and pay for the class(es) you wish to take.
May 29: Fix Your Water I – Pipes, Parts, and Pieces. The overview of different pipe and tubing options and how to use them. Discover how simple it can be to use basic plumbing tools to build a drip irrigation system. Also, practice working with PVC pipe and learn how to glue or solvent-weld pieces of pipe together so you can have all the skills needed to build your own watering system. June 27: Fix Your Water II – Get to Know Your Water and What it Can Do. Learn accurate and simple ways to measure the water pressure, flow, and velocity to determine how far the water can travel across your property. Learn how to select the best watering system for your site. Get your hands wet and convert a residential sprinkler head to drip irrigation and assemble a simple drip irrigation system for raised bed crops to immediately decrease water usage and boost water efficiency. July 24: Fix Your Water III - Water Like a Boss. Too much water can be just as bad as not enough water. Learn how to water your plants evenly and check the soil moisture to know when you need to add more water. Crops require different amounts of water during the different stages of their growth. Identify when you should water by hand and when you can use irrigation. Use this knowledge to determine the watering needs for your space. (TCC course code number GENX-1002-30005 (0674951))
August 28: Fix Your Water IV – Operate and Repair. Never be without water. Become familiar with how to adjust sprinklers and drip irrigation systems to deliver the right amount of water at the right time. Be able to repair leaks in spigots, hoses, and an irrigation system. Then learn how to automate your watering with a programmable water timer. (TCC course code number GENX-1002-30007 (0674952))
